(I was using a speech-to-text program to transcribe my spoken collaborations on Onda Cero to text. I have asked him to translate it into Spanish, but the result is as follows. This collaboration was issued in August 2023)

Today I am going to talk to you about the Kon-tiki expedition. 76 years ago, on April 28, the Kon-tiki raft left the port of Callao, in Peru, with six people on board. In command was Thor Heyerdahl. They intended to demonstrate that there was no technical barrier preventing South Americans from crossing the Pacific and settling in Polynesia. One hundred days later, after traveling seven thousand kilometers, they reached the Tuamotu Islands. The experience was recounted in the book Kon-tiki. Shortly thereafter, Heyerdahl led an expedition to Easter Island, trying to delve deeper into his thesis. The results were published in his book Aku Aku. Heyerdahl demonstrated that it was possible to navigate by raft from America to Polynesia. Despite this, today it is considered that he was completely wrong. The inhabitants of the Pacific islands originated from Southeast Asia, not America. The documentary film about Kon-tiki won the Oscar for Best Documentary in 1951. The books where he recounts his experiences have been some of the most influential in my life. Because of them, I went to Easter Island, and it was because of them that the first postcard published on Easter Island was a photo of me. Several years ago, several friends and I attempted to make an expedition to an atoll in the Tuamotu, searching for traces of an ancient caravel. Thor Heyerdahl was one of those friends. Unfortunately, when we were halfway through the paperwork to obtain permits, the promoter died of cancer. It could not be done, but I have it noted among my pending tasks. Luckily, we always have pending tasks, research to do, and places to visit. As Konstantínos Kaváfis said, «ask that the road be long, that many be the summer mornings in which you arrive, with what pleasure and joy to ports never seen before». That's all friends, I hope you have many pending ports and many tasks to accomplish. Until tomorrow.
